Tip a Wee Dram, Vancouver’s best springtime whisky tasting fundraiser, is celebrating its 10th anniversary! The 2019 event will take place on Saturday, March 9th, 2019 at the Scottish Cultural Center. Proceeds benefit The Callanish Society, a charity providing support and inspiration for those affected by cancer.
Aficionados and novices alike will sample over 50 different whiskies from across the globe, provided by knowledgeable and passionate vendors. In addition to the world-class whiskies, guests will also enjoy handmade hors d’oeuvres, exciting games, and entertainment. A silent auction will give guests the chance to bid on exclusive items, all in support of Callanish and their goal to improve the lives of those living with cancer.

Since inception in 2010, Tip a Wee Dram has raised over $425,000 in support of cancer-related charities. Though it has grown significantly, the event retains its inclusive community feel. One 2018 guest described it as “the perfect combination of a bustling event and intimate interactions.” It is no surprise that such a fun and meaningful event has gained a loyal following – Master Class and VIP tickets often sell out within days, and for the 2019 event only General Admission tickets are sill available.
The key to the fundraiser’s success is the small but dedicated team of volunteers who put it on each year. Ben Bolding-Jones, Project Manager at Raymond James Ltd, is one of the founding volunteers, explains the personal significance of the event: “we created Tip a Wee Dram as a way for my family to give back to local research and treatment communities after losing my mom to cancer.”

After 10 years, Tip a Wee Dram remains true to its founders’ mission to raise funds, awareness, and support for those affected by cancer, while providing an exceptional guest experience “Partnering with the Raymond James Canada Foundation in 2018 and 2019 has allowed us to reach new potential event attendees, and to provide even more funds to Callanish thanks to RJCF’s grant” says Ben Bolding- Jones. RJCF is thrilled to support Ben’s hard work for such an inspiring cause.
