Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal: $84,000 IMPACT!
October 20, 2022
Hurricane Fiona’s torrential rains and strong winds wreaked havoc across Atlantic Canada. The deadly storm caused widespread flooding, destroyed homes and businesses, and left hundreds of thousands without power.
To help the families and individuals affected, the Raymond James Canada Foundation matched employee donations in support of the Canadian Red Cross. Together, we raised $42,000 for the Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal. With the additional match pledged by the Canadian Government, our total impact equals $84,000!
“For the third time this year, our Raymond James community mobilized to support disaster relief efforts – this time in our own backyard,” shares Jamie Coulter, CEO Raymond James Ltd. “Colleagues across the country reached out to help repair the devastating damage of Hurricane Fiona, and we are proud to match their generosity. By coordinating our efforts, we are able to maximize the impact of each dollar donated.”
Over 200 Canadian Red Cross volunteers and employees are on the ground responding to the crisis. They have provided emergency shelter for more than 1,200 individuals, and distributed 5,700 emergency items including hygiene kits, cots, blankets and even teddy bears. Our collective donation will make a difference to the 56,000 households have registered as impacted by the storm.
“Thanks to your generosity, the Canadian Red Cross is helping people who have been forced from their homes with shelter, food, basic necessities, and psychosocial assistance,” shares Janet Johnson, Chief Development Officer, Canadian Red Cross. “With your support, we will continue to work with local governments and Indigenous leadership to assess needs as they emerge and provide support for those impacted in the long road to recovery.”
Thank you to all our Raymond James Ltd advisors and associates who donated to the 2022 Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal. The Raymond James Canada Foundation shares your commitment to helping those in need, and together we can show that #RJCares.
