How are CGF Assets Managed?
How are CGF Assets Managed?
Unlike community and private foundations, the Raymond James Canada Foundation is supported by the sophisticated investment expertise of Raymond James Ltd, Canada’s premier independent investment firm. We offer a wide-range of services for individual and institutional clients and corporate issuers. Our Advisors have access to a complete offering of high quality investment products and services, providing them with the resources to customize investment solutions for their clients.
Your trusted Raymond James Advisor is uniquely positioned to manage your philanthropic gift alongside your existing Raymond James investment accounts. We work with your Advisor to invest the Charitable Giving Fund assets in stocks, bonds, mutual funds and other liquid securities in accordance with our comprehensive Investment Policy (IPS).
The IPS reflects the Foundation’s risk tolerance and income needs, which may differ from the donor’s, and is designed to ensure your funds last and create impact in the community for decades to come.
*Once the donation is made, the assets in the Charitable Giving Fund become the property of the Raymond James Canada Foundation. The Board of Directors has the sole responsibility and authority for investing the Foundation’s assets and may, without notice, modify its Investment policies and restrictions from time to time. There is no assurance that any investment option will achieve its stated objective. Market fluctuations may cause the value of securities in a CGF to be worth more or less than their value when they were initially donated to the Foundation.
What are the Investment Options?
What are the Investment Options?
There are several investment platforms available to your Financial/Investment Advisor for managing the Charitable Giving Fund in accordance with your wishes. With these platforms, the Foundation pays Raymond James a monthly or quarterly fee based on the value of the account, instead of paying individual commissions per trade or transaction. Contact your Advisor to determine which platform is right for you.
The Viridian Platform offers a full-service, fee-based account that offers the Foundation a flexible investment solution and alternative to a traditional commission based account.
The Freedom Enhanced Income Portfolio offers the choice of three uniquely constructed portfolios, each designed to maximize total return through income generation and by combining active and passive investment strategies using mutual funds and Exchange Traded Funds.
The Partners Program is a Separately Managed Account (SMA) with institutional quality investment managers utilizing their own style of research and management to construct their unique portfolios. The Partners Program has partnered with a number of investment managers for exposure to multiple investment styles, capitalizations and global diversification (Fixed Income & Canadian/US/International Equities) in order to obtain a fully optimized investment portfolio.
The Private Investment Management Group (PIMG) Discretionary Investment Management platform is a customized portfolio developed and managed by a Raymond James Portfolio Manager.
As with your regular Raymond James accounts, investment management fees will be applied to the Charitable Giving Fund as per the fee schedule for the chosen investment platform. Please see the current applicable fee schedule for details. Certain investments eligible to be held in a CGF (such as mutual funds) may charge various commissions, management fees, operating expenses and/or administration expenses and/or other investments may pay Raymond James a referral fee or commission. Further information on applicable fees may be obtained from your Financial/Investment Advisor.
